  24. It would be nice to see the Amiga pick back up again, but it ain't gonna
  25. happen. The PowerPC chip has turned out to be a dud except on PowerMacs
  26. where there is no choice. The PowerPC (PPC) was supposed to compete with
  27. Intel and cost less. It missed both points. Prices are not cheaper and
  28. performance is comparible to the Pentium (FPU is higher). The PPC 620 is
  29. pushed back and IBM is dumping their desktop PPCs.

  31. By the time the PPC Amiga starts shipping Pentium Pro machines will be
  32. $2000-2500 and will blows the doors off any PPC chip. With the low cost of
  33. dual SMP Pentium Pro motherboards you can double the performance for $500
  34. more. Though LW isn't multithreaded you could run Screamernet on one CPU and
  35. model/layout on the other.

  37. I was rooting for the PPC, competition is good and Intel/MS are too big, but
  38. the promises didn't live up to the claims and they were 2 years late.
